EN While the third performer waits offstage, the first describes to the second the character the third will play upon entering — giving one physical, one vocal, and one personality trait. Once the third enters and commits to those traits, it becomes the second performer's responsibility to draw them out through the scene.

1. Three performers. The third waits offstage and listens.
2. The first performer describes to the second the character that the third will play: a physical trait (e.g., uses hands when talking), a vocal trait (e.g., Italian accent), and a personality trait (e.g., passionate about everything he believes).
3. The first performer also establishes how the third character fits into the situation — for instance, a new coworker that number one has hired and number two will have to work with.
4. The third performer enters and commits fully to all three described traits.
5. The second performer takes the main responsibility for helping draw out those traits — through questions, situations, and reactions — for the rest of the scene.
6. Avoid cheap or tasteless traits such as physical afflictions or bodily functions.
