Нет! Забудь! Ты шутишь! Проваливай! No! Forget It! You Must Be Joking! Drop Dead!
No! Forget It! You Must Be Joking! Drop Dead!
DescriptionОписание
EN A verbal-restriction scene from Keith Johnstone's "Sounds Good to Me" family of exercises. One player's entire dialogue is limited to four negative phrases — "No!", "Forget it!", "You must be joking!", and "Drop dead!" — while a skilled partner carries the scene forward with normal speech. The constraint forces the restricted player to convey meaning through tone, timing, and expression, and reveals how much a single word can communicate when delivered with full commitment.
RU Упражнение на ограничение речи из семейства игр Кита Джонстона «Sounds Good to Me». Один игрок может говорить только четыре отрицательные фразы — «Нет!», «Забудь!», «Ты шутишь!» и «Проваливай!» — пока опытный партнёр ведёт сцену обычным способом. Ограничение вынуждает «закрытого» игрока передавать смысл через интонацию, паузы и мимику, и показывает, как много может вместить одно слово при полном вложении в него.
How to PlayКак играть
EN
- Pair up players: one becomes the restricted player, the other the driver.
- The restricted player may only say: "No!", "Forget it!", "You must be joking!", or "Drop dead!" — and nothing else.
- The driver starts the scene with a strong offer (e.g., "So you want to marry my daughter?") and continues making new offers to keep the story moving.
- The restricted player responds using only the four allowed phrases, choosing whichever fits their emotional intention — but cannot explain or elaborate.
- The driver must accept and build on whatever the restricted player implies through tone and body language, not just the literal words.
- Play until a brief scene has unfolded, then swap roles.
RU
VariationsВариации
EN
- Positive version ("Sounds Good to Me"): Restrict a player to four positive phrases — "Yes.", "Sounds good to me.", "I'll go along with that.", "Thank-you." This is useful for shy students who feel they can't improvise. The partner must be skilled at driving the scene.
- Two-phrase version: Simplify further to just "Yes!" and "Certainly!", or "No!" and "Never!"
RU
- Позитивная версия («Sounds Good to Me»): Ограничьте игрока четырьмя положительными фразами — «Да.», «Звучит хорошо.», «Я согласен.», «Спасибо.» Помогает застенчивым студентам, которые считают, что не умеют импровизировать. Партнёр должен уверенно вести сцену.
- Версия с двумя фразами: Упростите до «Да!» и «Конечно!» или «Нет!» и «Никогда!»
Sidecoach / Сайдкоуч
EN
- "Drive the scene — don't wait for the restricted player to explain themselves."
- "Use all four phrases — don't get stuck on one."
- "Let the tone do the work. 'No!' can mean anything."
RU
- «Веди сцену — не жди, пока ограниченный игрок объяснится.»
- «Используй все четыре фразы — не зацикливайся на одной.»
- «Дай интонации работать. "Нет!" может значить что угодно.»
