What Grown-ups Wanted Me to Be
What Grown-ups Wanted Me to Be
DescriptionОписание
EN Players each write down the person, profession, or role that the adults in their life (parents, teachers, elders) expected or wanted them to become. They then embody that character in movement and dialogue with others, allowing each person to compare what they actually are with what their elders expected from them.
How to Play
EN
- Half the group each write their name on a piece of paper along with the person or role that the adults in their life wanted them to become. The other half observe.
- Players begin moving through the space using only their bodies — gesture, facial expression, movement — to show the main characteristics of the character they are playing. All play simultaneously, without yet relating to one another.
- After a few minutes, the Joker tells players to find a partner. Pairs begin dialogues while staying in character, without explicitly revealing who their character is.
- After the same interval, the Joker signals to change partners. New pairs continue dialogue, each maintaining and developing their character. A third partner rotation follows.
- When the rotations are complete, the Joker reads out each player's name. Both observers and participants describe the characteristics they saw — not guessing the literal identity written on the paper, but describing how the person behaved and what it revealed about what they were expected to become.
- After the first half has played, the second half takes a turn with the same process.
RU
Variations
EN Hamlet variation: how does the actor believe their character would like to be seen, or how other characters in the play would like them to be — while still performing the same actions as in the script?
