The Rolling Carpet

EN All participants lie on their backs in a row, alternating head-to-toe so that arms and shoulders are side by side. They raise their arms to form a living carpet of hands. One person at a time sits on those raised hands and is carried to the other end of the line.

1. Everyone lies on their back on the floor, arms stretched out above their heads. The first person lies with legs in one direction, the second with legs in the opposite direction, and so on alternating — this way all arms and shoulders are adjacent while heads point in opposite directions.
2. Everyone raises their arms in the air to create a platform of raised hands.
3. One volunteer sits carefully onto the raised hands at one end of the row.
4. The people lying on the floor pass the rider along with their arms, moving the rider's body steadily toward the other end — like a rolling carpet.
5. One person stands at the far end, ready to receive the arriving rider and help them down to the ground.
6. The rider, once delivered, lies down at the end of the row and waits to help carry the next traveller.
7. Continue until everyone has had a turn riding the carpet.

1. Все ложатся на спину, вытягивая руки за голову. Первый участник лежит ногами в одну сторону, второй — ногами в другую, и так чередуя: руки и плечи соседей оказываются рядом, а головы смотрят в противоположные стороны.
2. Все поднимают руки вверх, образуя платформу из ладоней.
3. Один доброволец осторожно садится на поднятые руки с одного конца ряда.
4. Лежащие участники передают «всадника» по цепочке руками, плавно перемещая его тело к другому концу — как по катящемуся ковру.
5. В дальнем конце стоит один участник, готовый принять прибывшего и помочь ему опуститься на пол.
6. Прибывший ложится в конце ряда и ждёт следующего «путешественника».
7. Упражнение продолжается, пока все не побывают на ковре.

Italian variation: Everyone lies on their backs with heads pointing the same way. The first person in the row rolls over the bodies of their companions to the other end. As soon as they set off, the second person follows, then the third, and so on.

Edam variation: Everyone lies on their backs, head to toe with their neighbour, with a small space left between bodies. One person lies across the first three at a right angle. At a signal, those on the ground begin rolling in the same direction, carrying the person on top along with them. A second person follows, then a third.
