EN Premise Scenes are simply scenes based on premises — specific situations with no built-in structure, game, or device. The premise can come from the group leader, from a suggestion, or be invented on the spot; examples include "being pulled over by a policeman," "having the boss over for dinner," or "moving to a new city." Goldberg calls it the purest and most challenging of all improv structures.

1. Decide on a premise: a specific, concrete situation with inherent dramatic or comedic potential. It can come from a suggestion, the workshop leader, or the performers themselves.
2. Determine how many performers the premise requires, then assign or let them choose their characters.
3. Begin the scene. There are no rules, no game structure, no built-in device — simply perform.
4. Play through to a natural conclusion.
