Pitchman

DescriptionОписание

EN In this solo gibberish exercise the student-actor sells or demonstrates something entirely in gibberish — first as a plain delivery, then by becoming a pitchman. Because no recognisable words are available, the actor must communicate through energy, physicality, and direct contact with every member of the audience.

How to Play

EN

  1. One actor chooses something to sell or demonstrate to the audience — any product, skill, or idea.

  2. The actor goes through the pitch in gibberish — no recognisable words, only shaped sounds. The goal is to communicate directly to the audience.

  3. He then repeats the pitch in gibberish again, but this time as a pitchman: with full conviction, energy, and sustained direct contact with every member of the audience.

  4. After both rounds, the group evaluates: was there variety in the gibberish? Did he see the audience or stare at them? Why did pitching bring greater intensity to the work?

RU

Reflection /

EN Help the watching group notice that a street seller wins people over only by staying in touch with them. Questions: how varied was the gibberish? Was the contact with the audience direct — were people really seen, or only looked at?
