EN A Performance Track is an advanced, often audition-based tier within an improv school's training curriculum. Schools such as The Groundlings and The Brave New Workshop reserve this level for students who are ready to focus on performance-quality scene work, long-form structures, and preparing material for public shows.

1. Students at this level are typically invited or must audition — not all students advance to the Performance Track.
2. Coursework shifts from introductory games to sustained scene work, character development, and ensemble long-form structures (such as the Harold, LaRonde, or Deconstruction).
3. Each level within the track culminates in a public performance; for example, at The Brave New Workshop each Performance Track level ends with a show.
4. At The Groundlings, the Upper Division Performance Track includes a Writing Lab (scripted scenes and monologues for a showcase) and an Advanced Lab that functions as an improv group, developing material for two full performances during the course.
5. The final goal is readiness to join a standing company or to perform independently at a professional level.
