EN A radio (or tape-recorder) interview exercise in which one skilled player acts as interviewer and stops "passers-by" on the street. Players hear their own voices in playback, which motivates them to speak more clearly and expressively. Spolin recommends this as an ideal first radio exercise for young students, because even the most timid child can participate.

How to PlayКак играть

1. One skilled player (ideally a teacher's assistant) takes the role of the street interviewer.
2. Round A — real identity: The interviewer approaches each player in turn: "Hello — and who are you?" The player gives their real name, address, and a few words about themselves.
3. Round B — human characters: The interviewer assigns a character (e.g., "Here comes an old man!") and the player must respond in that role.
4. Round C — animal voices: The interviewer suggests an animal (e.g., "Here comes a cat!"). The player speaks as that animal, capturing its sound and speech rhythm — a dog would sound staccato, a cow slow and heavy.
5. For a variation, the player chooses an animal secretly and lets their speech rhythm reveal it; the interviewer must guess the animal. If the interviewer cannot identify it, the player tries again with greater clarity.
6. If using a recorder, play back each interview so players can hear themselves and work on their speech.
