EN This game takes its French title — meaning "exquisite corpse" — from the Surrealist poets. It can be played as a drawing game or as a verbal storytelling game. In both versions, each participant works only from a tiny fragment of what the previous person created, so the full result is unknown to anyone until the very end.

RU Название игры — «изысканный труп» (cadavre exquis) — пришло от поэтов-сюрреалистов. Играть можно в графическом или словесном варианте. В обоих случаях каждый участник видит лишь крошечный фрагмент работы предыдущего, поэтому целое остаётся неизвестным до финального раскрытия.

How to PlayКак играть

Drawing version:

1. Give each participant a sheet of paper.
2. Each person draws something on the top twenty centimetres or so of their sheet.
3. They fold the paper over, leaving only a couple of lines visible at the edge.
4. Pass the folded paper to the next person. They draw something that joins onto those few visible lines — whatever the fragments suggest to them.
5. They fold the paper again, leaving only a few marks visible, and pass it on.
6. Continue until all sheets are full.
7. Unfold all sheets and reveal the complete drawings together.

Verbal version:

1. One actor begins telling a story.
2. A second actor continues the story. Before entering, they hear only the last few words the previous actor spoke.
3. Continue around the group, each person picking up only from the last few words of the person before them.
4. Alternatively, use a tape recorder so the whole group can play at once: each actor records their contribution, then hears only the final few words before the next actor records theirs.
5. Play back the full recording at the end for everyone to hear.

Графический вариант:

1. Раздайте каждому участнику лист бумаги.
2. Каждый рисует что-либо в верхней части листа — примерно на двадцати сантиметрах.
3. Лист складывается так, чтобы снизу оставалось видно лишь несколько линий.
4. Бумага передаётся следующему участнику. Он рисует что-то, продолжая видимые линии — что бы ему ни подсказывали эти фрагменты.
5. Снова складывает, оставляя несколько меток, и передаёт дальше.
6. Так продолжается, пока все листы не будут заполнены.
7. Все листы разворачивают и показывают одновременно.

Словесный вариант:

1. Один актёр начинает рассказывать историю.
2. Второй актёр продолжает — перед выходом он слышит лишь последние несколько слов предыдущего.
3. Так по очереди проходит вся группа: каждый подхватывает историю только с последних слов предшественника.
4. Альтернатива — использовать диктофон: вся группа записывает по очереди, каждый слышит лишь финальные слова предыдущей записи перед своей.
5. В конце запись воспроизводится для всей группы целиком.
